Gillian is a Managing Associate who is responsible for the provision of employment services, working for clients across the UK.

Gillian has a number of  years of experience of advising clients on a range of legal employment matters, and has also worked for over 14 years in senior HR management roles, with responsibility for all employment and people matters for businesses.  Gillian also has a strong corporate and business background, having started her legal career advising on a wide range of corporate transactions and commercial matters. During her HR career, she managed businesses through TUPE transfers, restructuring, redundancy processes and mergers. 

Gillian has a wide range of legal experience, and her years of working in HR roles equip her well to understand the reality of the legal employment-related challenges faced by clients. She will balance the risks with commercial and practical advice, seeking to help guide clients through challenging situations.  

Gillian seeks to build strong relationships with her clients so she can fully understand their business, enabling her to provide insightful and tailored advice. 

Gillian is an experienced lawyer and MCIPD qualified HR professional, with a number of years of experience advising legal clients on employment law matters, both contentious and non contentious.  Through her years of legal and also HR experience, she has managed and advised on matters relating to the full employee life-cycle, such as employment contracts, disciplinary and grievance matters, terminations and managed exits, TUPE transfers and mergers, alongside experience of contentious matters and tribunal cases. She has provided employment law and HR training to legal clients,  together with providing ongoing HR advisory support and opinions. 

Gillian is also a non-executive director of an Scottish Premiership football club. 

Experience
  • Advising a range of clients on all employment aspects of company/business acquisitions and sales including TUPE, service and employment contracts as well as the full range of ongoing employment and HR advice/queries. 
  • Front line management of restructures, redundancy processes, and several acquisitions/mergers resulting in TUPE transfers. 
  • Significant experient of managing recruitment related issues, discrimination law matters, absence and performance management, employee exit arrangements (including settlement agreements) and a wide range of employee relations matters including disciplinary and grievance.
