Addleshaw Goddard is expanding its finance practice in France with the appointment of a four-strong Paris-based team, led by Julien Bacus who was Head of the European Financial Institutions Group at Dentons. The hires follow the recent arrival of competition partner, Michaël Cousin, at the beginning of September, bringing the total lawyer headcount in Paris to nearly 40.

The team advises financial institutions, investment funds, fintech and corporates on a broad range of finance and banking related matters, specifically capital markets with a particular emphasis on derivatives and debt capital markets. Julien is also an experienced restructuring lawyer, and has worked on several high profile assignments including Rallye and Casino holdings, Vivarte and Camaïeu.

The team is also active in relation to complex structured finance transactions and has experience of advising corporates, investment funds and credit institutions in respect of corporate finance, acquisition finance, syndicated loans and sustainable finance. Charles has also experience in the development of blockchain, crypto assets and securities token deals which are at the forefront of the team's regulatory practice.

Rémy Blain, Head of Office at Addleshaw Goddard in Paris said:

"Recruiting a leading team in finance has been one of Addleshaw Goddard’s goals since our arrival on the French market in February. The arrival of Julien and his team meets this objective and the obvious need to cover the financing needs of Addleshaw Goddard’s clients, not only in Paris for our French clients, but also for the clients of our various offices. Julien brings his in-depth knowledge of financial institutions, which is an indispensable asset for the firm and an additional growth lever.”

Julien Bacus added:

"I know the Addleshaw Goddard teams for a long time and I share their sense of collective work and cohesion. So joining them seemed obvious to me. I am delighted to participate in this ambitious entrepreneurial project and to work in cooperation with the corporate team and other offices – including the London office – with a view to continued internationalization and building on my strong relationships with the financial institutions.”
