The Corporate team in Addleshaw Goddard's Northern offices has advised on two significant acquisitions in the past two days, demonstrating the strong levels of M&A activity the team are continuing to see across a range of sectors in the North.

The team advised Dutch private equity house Avedon and its portfolio company, visual collaboration solutions provider Kinly, on the acquisition of AVMI Group from Alcuin Capital Partners. AVMI Group designs, delivers and maintains audio visual and digital media solutions for businesses around the world, thus strengthening Kinly's position as a global top three provider of video collaboration services, and enabling it to provide a compelling offering to current and potential customers.

The deal was led by Leeds Corporate Partner, Peter Wood, and Manchester-based associate, Ben Collins, along with Andy Fordham, Martin Griffiths, Cameron Allwood and Amelia Middlebrook.

Ben Collins, the Associate on the transaction, commented: "We are thrilled to have supported Kinly and Avedon on this transformational deal, which involved numerous parties from across the UK and Europe, all working remotely in a truly collaborative way. As a corporate group, we have remained busy during this period of uncertainty and it is great to see that there is clearly still high-quality M&A work to be done in the market. We look forward to seeing the Kinly group go from strength to strength."

This was quickly followed by the team's work in advising Alinda Capital Partners on its acquisition of Glide Group – the UK's leading provider of broadband, networks and utilities for student accommodation, house sharers and SME's – from a fund managed by Inflexion Private Equity Partners.

Glide benefits from having long-term contracts with universities and landlords and medium-term contracts to serve businesses and students and is a key acquisition for Alinda as it continues to focus on digital infrastructure as a specific area of interest.

The team that worked on this deal were again led by Wood and included Dave Parker, Tom Hopwood, Aidan Barry, Andy Fordham, Justine Delroy, Amy Taggart, Lucy Pickering and Sophie Hiley.

Dave Parker, the Managing Associate on the transaction, commented: "It was great to support Jim Metcalfe, Joe Kelleher, Dado Slezak and the wider Alinda team on this significant transaction. This deal is evidence of where there is a compelling asset for sale, with a strong management team, notwithstanding the current economic uncertainty, investors are still willing to invest in the UK economy. We wish the Alinda and Glide teams all the best on their journey together."
