Hugh is a co-head of our Financial Services Sector and a Corporate Partner with extensive experience in advising on private acquisitions and disposals for both public and private companies, joint ventures and group reorganisations, with a particular focus on the financial services sector. Hugh acts for a range of UK clearing, international and challenger banks, building societies, non-bank lenders, payment service providers and fintechs on their acquisitions and disposals. Hugh also advised extensively on regulated and non-regulated debt portfolio transactions.  

Highlights of Hugh's recent work includes acting for:

• Metro Bank on its £3bn mortgage disposal to NatWest
• Allied Irish Bank on the sale of its £600m SME banking business to Allica Bank
• Manchester Building Society on its merger with Newcastle Building Society
• Shawbrook Bank on its acquisition of a development finance business from RateSetter
• BNP Paribas on is disposal of its Rental Solutions Business and acquisition of Kantox
• Barclays on its acquisition of the payments services gateway provider, The Logic Group
• Arbuthnot Latham on its acquisition of a truck leasing business (Asset Alliance Group)
• A major retail bank in connection with the mandatory ring fencing of its retail business
