Expertise

Kyle is a New Zealand-qualified barrister and solicitor who advises on all aspects of UK, European Union, and international taxation, as well as having expertise in New Zealand tax and trust law. His practice focuses particularly on mergers and acquisitions, real estate finance, private equity transactions, and international tax structuring. He has a particular interest in international taxation (especially the OECD's BEPS project) and tax policy and has published in both these areas.

Kyle's experience includes:

  • Advising Standard Life on the £125m acquisition of Aviva Investors UK Real Estate Recovery II Unit Trust, a Jersey property unit trust holding a large and diverse portfolio of UK property;
  • Acting for the shareholders of Enterprise Ventures on their £11m sale to Mercia Technologies;
  • Advising the management of Kurt Geiger in respect of its sale to Cinven; and
  • Acting for Trina Solar, Solarig, and Equitix on various acquisitions and sales of renewable energy facilities.
