Michael specialises in banking and finance law and infrastructure projects acting for funders, private sector sponsors and public authorities. He has worked on many major PPP and infrastructure projects including ones in the education, defence, health, waste and renewables sectors. He has worked on a number of PPP standard forms.

Michael advises infrastructure funds on funding structures, refinancings, acquisitions, disposals and asset management transactions, including handback obligations and related issues. He has advised on numerous variations, settlements and disputes on Projects. Michael also advises infrastructure investors and lenders on settlements and restructuring transactions for distressed projects.

Michael's relevant experience includes advising:

  • infrastructure funds in relation to the Carillion insolvency
  • infrastructure funds in relation to asset condition surveys and resulting liabilities on major hospital PFIs
