Chisolu is a Nigerian qualified attorney and is six years PQE and is an associate in our Infrastructure, Projects and Energy team.  Prior to joining Addleshaw Goddard Chisolu worked as a lawyer at National Grid after gaining considerable knowledge working for leading law firm in Nigeria. Chisolu has a strong background in project finance and his strengths lie in identifying key compliance risks whilst providing tailored advice to complex situations within the energy industry in Africa and United Kingdom.  He is passionate about the transition to net-zero carbon, energy sector digitalisation, climate change and energy decentralisation

Chisolu's recent experience includes: 

  • member of the team that interfaced with the Nigerian Government in relation to the proposed reform of the Electric Power Sector Reform Act 2005
  • key member of the EKEDC team that proposed the reform of the Lagos State Electricity Sector Reforms Law 2018, said reform is aimed at the introduction and incentivising independent power providers to help meet the rural electrification target of the state
  • co-formulated an Energy Theft policy for an Electricity Distribution Company that saved her over 3bn Naira in recovery in the year 2019 and 2020
  • co- developed and implemented a Debt Recovery Policy for (EKEDC) an Electricity Distribution Company that led to the recovery of over 1bn Naira legacy debts
  • provided legal support across ESO, National Grid Ventures and National Grid Partners as well as working on various complex transactional deals including but not limited to Interconnectors
