Emily specialises in consumer finance and retail lending.  Before qualifying as a solicitor, Emily worked in a compliance role in the motor finance industry and continues to focus on asset finance. Emily has undertaken two secondments: one in a large retail bank in the commercial cards division; the other at a large financial services firm with a focus on asset and insurance premium finance. 

Emily's experience includes:

  • providing advice to clients on all aspects of consumer credit legislation under the Consumer Credit Act 1974 (and associated regulations) and the FCA Handbook;
  • drafting and reviewing customer facing documentation, including financial promotions, regulated credit and hire agreements; pre-contractual information; and post-contractual notices and statements;
  • supporting asset and motor finance providers on consumer credit and hire related issues including bringing new products to market; drafting and negotiating broker agreements; and managing risks specific to these sectors.
  • carrying out due diligence in support of corporate transactions, with a focus on identifying risks in consumer credit and hire portfolios.
