Tessa is a managing associate in the Employment Group, based in our Manchester office.

Tessa has conducted Employment Tribunal litigation for a wide range of employer clients, including in the appellate courts. She has extensive experience in defending claims for unfair dismissal, sex, race, disability, age and pregnancy and maternity discrimination, trade union detriment and whistleblowing. She also has experience in assisting with large-scale claims brought by multiple claimants.

Tessa has undertaken two separate client secondments to in-house legal teams, where she gained valuable experience of litigation from the in-house perspective and provided commercially focused general employment advice on a range of issues, including knotty disciplinary and grievance procedures, absence management issues, the application of TUPE to the in-sourcing and out-sourcing of services and complex industrial relations matters. Back in the office, Tessa now works with a number of different clients on dedicated helplines, in order to assist them with their day-to-day employment queries.

Tessa has also worked on a variety of non-contentious matters for private sector clients, including large-scale business re-organisations and the employment aspects of corporate transactions.
