James joined the firm in 2014 from Maples Teesdale LLP where he trained and qualified. He specialises in all aspects of non-contentious real estate law however he has particular expertise in asset management and investment work.

He is the firm's account manager for Hammerson plc.


James' experience includes:

  • Acquisitions and disposals of high value commercial properties including retail premises, industrial parks and offices.
    • Advising a Malaysian Sovereign Fund on the property aspects of the disposal of 151 Buckingham Palace Road, London.
    • Assisting on the purchases of various shopping centres and large portfolio transactions.
    • Advising a manufacturing company on the relocation of its business by interrelated sale and purchase each conditional on planning.
  • Property management work across clients' portfolios including lettings, regears, surrenders, reversionary leases, licences etc.
    • Advising Hammerson plc on all aspects of the management work for its retail park portfolio as well as acting on major disposals.
    • Acting for a major corporate taking a lease of newly refurbished office space for its UK headquarters and simultaneously selling off its existing redundant office space.
    • Advising on re-gearing a lease and subsequent sale of a substantial office block in Chancery Lane.
  • Development work on both retail and mixed use schemes.
