We are delighted to be partnering up with Deloitte UK LLP's Forensic IT team to hold a seminar on how businesses can protect themselves from the theft of their confidential information by senior executives. The discussion will focus on proactive protection, as well as what to do when things do go wrong.

In the majority of organisations, confidential information (including intellectual property) is an extremely valuable asset which is at the heart of the business' long-term viability.  This can come in many forms, from marketing information, pricing and customer lists through to business plans, products, services and programming code.

When employees are leaving a business, there can be a temptation for them to take with them confidential information / IP which belongs to their employer, in order either to progress their careers elsewhere, or to set up in competition.  Therefore, understanding the steps you can take, from both a technical and legal perspective, to protect your confidential information, should be an integral part of any business contingency plan.

This event, hosted by Deloitte takes the form of an interactive case study.

Our speakers include Jamie Hamnett and Nick Ashcroft who specialise in advising on these sorts of business protection issues, including advising "poachers" (departing employees and their new employers) and "gamekeepers" (the business seeking to protect their confidential information).  Their recent clients have included FTSE 100 and global businesses, alongside smaller, regional organisations.

We will also hear from Victoria Pool, an insurance specialist who regularly advises clients on insurance matters relating to cyber security and theft of information.

Deloitte's Forensic Technology Team will then provide an overview of some of the challenges / approaches associated with the protection of IP and the investigation of alleged breaches.

Finally, there will also be a Q&A session with Jamie, Nick, Victoria and the Deloitte Forensic Technology Team.

Spaces are limited, so please register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.  If you are unable to attend yourself, but have a colleague who would like to attend, please feel free to pass this invitation to them.
