The judges singled out Addleshaw Goddard for its role in ensuring the Competition Commission cleared unconditionally the British Salt-New Cheshire Salt Works merger in 2005. Addleshaw Goddard broke new ground by becoming the first team to persuade the Competition Commission to reverse a provisional decision against a merger due to competition issues.
