Mark is the firm's London Competition Team Leader. He is the only specialist competition solicitor to be a QC. He has practised for over 20 years before the UK competition authorities and UK courts as well as the European Commission and European Courts in Luxembourg.
He advises clients on UK and EC competition law, including mergers and joint ventures, cartels, dawn raids and leniency, distribution strategies, compliance programmes, advice on competition strategies for dominant firms, and related sectoral regulation. He has experience of the financial services, energy, healthcare, transport, electronic communications and media, food and drink industry sectors.
Recent cases include advises on a cartel appeal and interim relief application in the European Court, advising a client in the interlocutory injunction application brought by the BAPW in the High Court, successfully defending interlocutory injunction proceedings in Northern Ireland, advising a bank on competition law issues in the unauthorised overdraft charges case brought in the High Court by the OFT and advising AAH Pharmaceuticals and Lloyds Pharmacy on their complaints and interim measures applications to the OFT regarding the changes made by pharmaceutical manufacturers to the distribution of medicines in the UK and the resulting OFT market study.
He is recognised by Global Competition Review, Legal 500, PLC and Chambers UK as a leading expert in his field.
