AG is reinforcing its position in both Doha and the GCC, announcing the appointment Ahmad Anani, as Partner and Qatar Office Head.

Previously, Office Managing Partner Middle East and Dubai at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP, Ahmad, a Corporate & Capital Markets specialist, brings with him a wealth of expertise, which significantly bolsters the Firm's already strong GCC corporate practice, led by Andrew Johnston.

Since opening in 2013, AG's Doha office has created vast opportunities for the Firm's wider GCC offices, and Ahmad's hire will allow the Firm to continue to increase its market-share, grow its brand reputation and develop its corporate practice locally and regionally.

Andrew Johnston, Head of Corporate GCC stated: "Over the past three years our corporate practice has gone from strength-to-strength and we have ambitious growth plans for the next three years. Ahmad, is well-respected in the local market, his legal expertise combined with his commercial acumen are a perfect fit for our team and will allow us to improve our ability to service existing and new clients."

Ahmad will bring added bench strength to the GCC's Corporate practice and develop its strategy for growth.

Andrew Greaves, Head of the GCC stated:  "We believe the value of an office in Qatar cannot be overstated. Ahmad's hire not only supports our wider GCC growth plans, it adds depth and additional quality to our already strong pool of partners located in the region and present us with a platform to capitalise on opportunities such as the World Cup 2022.

"Over the last five years, we have seen year-on-year growth across the region, developed a strong track record in key sectors such as; retail, transport and digital and won significant mandates for leading clients including; Diageo, Qatar Navigation Q.S.C. Britvic, Qatar National Bank Qatar Foundation Endowment and Qatar Investment & Projects Development Holding Co."

This is the latest investment by AG into its GCC offices, following on from the hire of an additional three lawyers into its Dubai Construction practice.
